The gasifier on the chain saw is simpler than most gasifiers because it only needs to be used under three conditions: when the engine is cold started. The engine is running at idle. The engine is running at full capacity. No one is interested in the gear between idling and full opening, so the gradual performance between these two situations is not very important. For automobiles, many gears in the middle are very important, so the automobile gasifier is much more complex. In the following two pictures, you can see the carburetor of the chain saw: the following are various parts of the carburetor: the carburetor is basically a pipe. There is an adjustable plate in the pipe, called throttle plate, which is used to control the air flow through the pipe. There is a very narrow section of pipe, called a venturi, in which a vacuum is generated.
In the narrow passage, there is a small hole, called a nozzle, through which the gasifier draws fuel in a vacuum. In Figure 2, the left end of the Curie tube is a nozzle. 1. When the throttle valve is fully opened, the gasifier operates normally. In this case, the throttle plate is parallel to the direction of the pipe, allowing air flow through the gasifier. The air flow creates a good vacuum in the venturi and draws a certain amount of fuel through the nozzle.
